🛵 Ordering with Delivery Apps
Which app to use (GrabFood, ShopeeFood, DeliveryK), writing order notes, receiving at an apartment, and phrases for restaurants and drivers
Which app should you use?
- GrabFood — the one most foreigners use. It's the same app as Grab rides, and many menus are in English.
- You can search by cuisine — e.g. 'Korean' or 'Hàn Quốc' for Korean food.
- ShopeeFood — lots of discount vouchers. Works in English.
- Be — a Vietnamese app that's sometimes a little cheaper.
- DeliveryK (Delivery K) — a delivery app started for the Korean community in Southeast Asia. It's strongest for Korean food, but many Thảo Điền delis, cafés and Japanese spots are on it too.
- You can switch the app to English (also Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese and Thai), and menu names change with it. Each shop page shows which languages it takes orders in. You can track order status and the driver's location in real time.
- Besides food, it covers an online mart (imported Korean groceries), pharmacy, laundry, massage and car booking in one app.
- You pay with a card registered in advance. It says Vietnamese ATM cards and foreign cards (VISA, MASTER, JCB debit) are accepted.
- The service area is listed only as 'Ho Chi Minh City', with no district-by-district coverage. Enter your address and see which restaurants show up.
- The App Store lists Ho Chi Minh City as a service area, and an update came out in Oct 2026 (confirmed operating in 2026). Rating 4.9 (about 4,800 reviews).
- Capichi — a delivery and booking app for foreigners, made by a Vietnamese company.
- It works in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang and Bình Dương.
- You can pay with ZaloPay, MoMo, VNPAY, card or Apple Pay.
- We confirmed updates up to 2025, but 2026 operation is not confirmed — check the latest update date in the app store before installing.
- BAEMIN no longer operates in Vietnam — it shut down on Dec 8, 2023 (last orders Dec 7). Older posts saying 'order on BAEMIN' are out of date.
Writing order notes · receiving your order
- Order notes (Ghi chú) work best when short — 'không cay' (not spicy), 'ít cay' (less spicy), 'không ngò' (no cilantro), 'không hành' (no scallions).
- In many apartment buildings the driver only comes as far as the lobby. When they call, say 'Dạ, em xuống liền' (I'm coming right down) and head down.
- Payment: on GrabFood and ShopeeFood you can choose card, e-wallet or cash. DeliveryK charges your registered card.
- In this app's Find restaurants, tap '🛵 Delivery only' to see only places with confirmed delivery. For places on DeliveryK, the card's 'Order on DeliveryK ↗' button takes you straight there.
