What's the area like?

Phú Nhuận is a small, quiet residential area between Districts 1 & 3 and Tân Sơn Nhất Airport. Close to both downtown and the airport, it's home to many office workers and families, with good eateries and cafés in every alley.

New ward names: from 1 July 2025 districts (quận) were abolished, and old Phú Nhuận District became 3 phường.
- phường Phú Nhuận — old Wards 8, 10, 11 & 13 + part of Ward 15
- phường Cầu Kiệu — old Wards 1, 2 & 7 + part of Ward 15 (Phan Xích Long side)
- phường Đức Nhuận — old Wards 4, 5, 9 etc. (north)
- The new 'phường Phú Nhuận' shares the old district's name but is only part of old Phú Nhuận District, not all of it. Don't mix them up.
Old names still work: people still often use old names like 'quận Phú Nhuận' (Phú Nhuận District) and 'Phường 8'.
Main streets: Nguyễn Văn Trỗi (main road to the airport), Hoàng Văn Thụ, Phan Đăng Lưu, Phan Đình Phùng, Nguyễn Trọng Tuyển (lots of hospitals), and the Phan Xích Long food street
Canal: the southern border is the Nhiêu Lộc–Thị Nghè canal, with a canal-side walking path.

Local tips & warnings

The airport is close. Handy for early-morning or late-night flights, but Nguyễn Văn Trỗi and Hoàng Văn Thụ are gridlocked at rush hour.
Lots of addresses are in alleys (hẻm). Show your Grab driver the full 'hẻm + number', and note a landmark at the alley entrance.
Phan Xích Long food street gets busy in the evening. Leave your motorbike at a giữ xe (parking attendant spot) and be sure to keep the ticket.

Chùa Pháp Hoa (Pháp Hoa Pagoda)

A pagoda built in 1928, famous for over 10,000 porcelain vases and sutras carved in granite.

It's inside an alley (hẻm), so you'll walk a little from the main road. Opening hours need checking.
