👬 With friends — guys' night

Thảo Điền BBQ → pool pub → hangover soup the next day

D2 · Budget about 320k–700k VND per person + 120k–200k VND for next-day hangover soup (approx.; guide prices as of Jun 2025 and Oct 2026: BBQ 200k–400k + 2–3 beers 120k–300k + soup 120k–200k)

18:30 Matchandeul BBQ Thảo Điền — An aged pork belly place where staff grill the meat for you. Book ahead on weekend evenings.
20:30 Evita Sports Bar — A neighborhood sports bar with five pool tables and big screens. Beers are about 60k–100k VND each, so it's easy on the wallet.
Next day 10:00 Haejang Gukbap (Chakhan Seolleongtang) — Cure the hangover with Korean pork and rice soup. Opens at 09:00; closed 14:30–16:30 on weekdays.

Matchandeul → Evita is about 10 minutes by Grab bike or car. Don't ride a motorbike yourself after drinking.
If you want darts and shuffleboard too, go to The Orient Bar Saigon (pool, darts, shuffleboard, 2nd-floor group room) instead of Evita.
If you get late-night munchies, Blue Dragon (Thái Thuận) is close too — but it closes at 23:00, so get there before 22:00.

Phú Mỹ Hưng Korean grilled intestines → craft beer → late-night snack

18:30 Gobchang Dodoog (Makchang Dodook) — Start with grilled makchang and gopchang (beef/pork intestines) — authentic Korean flavor and an easy pick for a guys' night.
20:30 Pasteur Street Brewing (Phú Mỹ Hưng) — Craft beer at a taproom near Crescent Lake. If you want to watch football, go to The Tavern PMH.
23:00 Them Nua (late-night food) — A late-night spot open until 3 a.m. Wrap up lightly with gimbap and grilled eel.

Gobchang Dodoog and Them Nua are on the same street, Cao Triều Phát, so you can walk between them. The taproom is about 5–10 minutes by Grab.
On big match days, call The Tavern PMH (47 Phan Khiêm Ích) first to ask if they're showing the game.
If touts in Phú Mỹ Hưng push a 'karaoke' or 'bar' for round two, don't follow. It may be a hostess venue where staff sit with customers.

District 1 pork belly → brewpub → bánh mì

18:30 Hanam Pig House (District 1) — A big three-story Korean pork belly restaurant with plenty of room for groups.
20:30 East West Brewing Co. — A big brewpub that brews beer on site. Open until 1 a.m. Thursday to Saturday.
22:30 Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa — Finish with a loaded bánh mì. Taking it home to eat is fine too.

Hanam Pig House to East West is 5 minutes by Grab, or about 15 minutes on foot.
Nearby Bùi Viện street gets extremely crowded at night — watch out for pickpockets. Don't hold your phone in the hand on the street side.
In District 1, don't go anywhere a person on the street or a taxi driver offers to take you as a 'karaoke' or 'bar'.

With friends — guys' night — good to know

Pubs with pool and darts fill up fast on big match days. Call first to ask if they're showing the game (broadcast rights differ by bar).
Don't follow touts or taxi drivers pushing 'karaoke, massage or bars' on the street. They may be hostess venues.
After drinking, don't ride a motorbike or drive — take Grab. In Vietnam, even a trace of alcohol in your blood or breath is a violation. Fines for motorbikes start at 2M–3M VND. (Road Traffic Order and Safety Law 2024, Article 9; Nghị định 168/2024)
Shout 'Một, hai, ba, dô!' once for a toast and the mood lifts. 'Trăm phần trăm' means 'bottoms up', so don't push yourself. (Kaiwa 2026)

👭 With friends — girls' night

Thảo Điền spa → Vietnamese dinner → riverside rooftop

17:30 Moc Huong Spa — Starting with a spa before dinner leaves you feeling light. 60 minutes is 220k–700k VND. It closes at 22:00, so go before dinner.
19:00 Quán Bụi Garden — Share dishes from all over Vietnam in a garden setting. The menu has photos, so ordering is easy.
20:30 Le Café des Stagiaires (Thảo Điền) — A third-floor rooftop with views of the river and Landmark 81. Cocktails about 180k VND (approx.).

All three are in Thảo Điền, 5–10 minutes apart by Grab.
If you'd rather have dessert than cocktails, switch to BingBing Korea Dessert Cafe (bingsu) or CHẠM Cafe & Kem Bơ Đà Lạt (avocado ice cream).
Going home at night, take a Grab car (4-seater) and use the app's 'Share trip' to send your location to friends or family.

District 1 Vietnamese home cooking → hotel rooftop → head spa · chocolate

16:30 Moc Kim Spa & Beauty — Start with a foot massage (40 min, 330k VND) or full-body massage (60 min, 499k VND). It closes at 21:30, so go early.
18:30 Bếp Mẹ Ỉn (Lê Thánh Tôn) — Share dishes like bánh xèo and coconut fried rice at a neat alley restaurant.
20:15 Social Club Rooftop Bar — A rooftop next to the hotel's 24th-floor infinity pool. Cocktails are 280k–350k VND. Happy hour 15:00–19:00 is 50% off, so it's cheaper if you go early.

Spa → restaurant → rooftop are each 5–10 minutes by Grab.
Social Club Rooftop Bar won't let you in wearing flip-flops or beach shorts.
For more dessert, stop by Maison Marou (flagship) (drinks and desserts 80k–150k VND). It's also good for buying chocolate gifts.
Don't leave your drink unattended, and don't accept drinks from strangers.

Phú Mỹ Hưng brunch → Korean sauna & spa → bingsu → lakeside walk

11:00 Laluna Cafe & Brunch - Midtown — A brunch café with a big menu. There are quiet seats upstairs, great for a long chat.
13:30 Golden Lotus Healing Spa (Phú Mỹ Hưng) — A Korean-style spa combining a jjimjilbang (sauna) and massage, perfect for a long rest.
17:00 Seol Hwa Bingsu (Bingsu Sữa Bào Tuyết Hoa) — Refuel with milk snowflake bingsu.
18:30 Cầu Ánh Sao · Hồ Bán Nguyệt (Starlight Bridge · Crescent Lake) — Stroll and take photos on the pedestrian bridge that lights up after sunset.

Everywhere in Phú Mỹ Hưng is 5–10 minutes apart by Grab. The area around the lake is nice for walking.
If you want to keep going with a drink into the evening, the Pasteur Street Brewing (Phú Mỹ Hưng) taproom is close by.

With friends — girls' night — good to know

Going home at night, take a Grab car (safer than a bike) and use the app's 'Share trip' to share your location with friends or family. Check the license plate and the driver's face match the app, and sit in the back.
Don't leave your drink unattended, and don't accept drinks from strangers.
Bars mentioned in reviews for 'balloons' (bóng cười) sell laughing gas and are targeted in police crackdowns. Stay away.
Choose spas with a posted price list and lots of reviews. Ask whether the tip is included when you book.
In crowded areas like Bùi Viện and Nguyễn Huệ, wear your bag in front and don't hold your phone in the hand on the street side.

💑 Date night

Sunset rooftop → dinner at a wine bar in the trees

17:30 Le Café des Stagiaires (Thảo Điền) — Have a cocktail while watching the sun set over the river. Weekdays have happy hour until 19:00.
19:00 Lửa (Wine Bar) — An open-air wine bar in a leafy courtyard, with about 100 wines and house-brewed sake. 18:00–23:00, closed Sundays.
21:30 The Deck Saigon — Finish with dessert or a drink on the riverside terrace (open until midnight).

Lửa is closed on Sundays, so do this plan Monday to Saturday.
Lửa is Michelin Selected, so book ahead on weekends (phone +84 93 222 93 42).
The riverside roads are dark at night, so call your Grab right to the restaurant's door.
If you'd like dinner at The Deck Saigon, book a riverside table for sunset in advance (about 300k–600k VND per person, approx.).

Saigon River dinner cruise → hotel rooftop with live music

17:45 Saigon River dinner cruise pier (Bến du thuyền) — Arrive at the pier at 5 Nguyễn Tất Thành before 18:00.
18:00 Saigon Princess - Luxurious Dining Cruise — Enjoy a set menu while cruising past the city lights. Sailing 18:00–21:30.
21:45 Saigon Saigon Rooftop Bar — The Caravelle Hotel's rooftop, reopened after a renovation in Sep–Oct 2026. Live music until 10:30 p.m.

For an anniversary, book the cruise in advance and request a window seat (reservations +84 888 901 068).
The pier (District 4) to Đồng Khởi (District 1) is 5–10 minutes by Grab.
For a shorter version instead of the cruise: Chill Skybar (26th floor, happy hour 17:30–20:00) → dinner at Hoa Túc (Hai Bà Trưng) → Snuffbox Speakeasy (live music Wed, Fri, Sat). Chill Skybar doesn't allow sleeveless tops, flip-flops or short shorts for men.

Landmark 81 night view → upscale Vietnamese in Phú Mỹ Hưng → lakeside walk

Bình Thạnh · District 7 · Budget about 1.15M–1.2M VND per person (approx.; prices: cocktail about 295k (The Rooftop Guide, Jun 2026) + Kim Quán about 1.5M VND for two → about 750k per person (guide, Sep 2026) + one beer 90k–165k (guide, Oct 2026))

15:30 Blank Lounge (Landmark 81) — Take in the city view from the 75th–76th floor lounge before sunset. Rush-hour traffic is heavy, so leave around 17:00.
18:00 Kim Quán — A formal Vietnamese restaurant with suited staff, famous for its crab sticky rice. It closes at 21:00, so arrive around 18:00.
20:00 Cầu Ánh Sao · Hồ Bán Nguyệt (Starlight Bridge · Crescent Lake) — Walk across the lit-up bridge. The lights are prettiest on weekend evenings.
21:00 Pasteur Street Brewing (Phú Mỹ Hưng) — Finish with a drink at a taproom near the lake.

Landmark 81 to Phú Mỹ Hưng is 25–40 minutes by Grab. Rush hour (17:00–19:00) takes longer, so leave with time to spare.
Couples living in District 7 can skip Blank Lounge — Kim Quán plus a lakeside walk is plenty.

Date night — good to know

Rooftops have dress codes. Chill Skybar bans sleeveless tops, flip-flops and short shorts for men; Social Club Rooftop Bar bans flip-flops and beach shorts.
Sunset seats (riverside, by the window) fill up fast on weekends. Book seats for around 17:00 in advance.
Cocktails are cheaper during happy hour. Times vary by venue (e.g. Social Club 15:00–19:00 at 50% off, Chill Skybar 17:30–20:00).
Take a Grab car when going home late, and if you've been drinking, don't ride a motorbike yourself.

🤝 Business — hosting clients · team dinners

Hosting foreign or Vietnamese clients: Michelin Cantonese private room → hotel bar

18:30 Long Triều — A Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant on the 4th floor of The Reverie hotel. Its nine private rooms make quiet conversation easy. Book a room in advance.
21:00 M Bar (Hotel Majestic Saigon) — The 8th-floor bar of the Majestic Hotel, built in 1925. It overlooks the river and the music is low enough to talk. Open until midnight.

From Long Trieu (The Reverie) to the Majestic Hotel at the end of Đồng Khởi street is about a 5-minute walk.
To treat guests to Vietnamese food, Hoa Túc (Hai Bà Trưng) (300k–600k VND per person) or Vietnam House (500k–1M VND per person) are good too.
Decide the second stop, like a hotel bar, from the start. If a guest or driver suggests a 'karaoke' or 'lounge', politely decline.

Team dinner or visiting guests: Korean BBQ with private rooms → craft beer taproom

18:30 Matchandeul BBQ Tôn Thất Tùng (District 1) — An aged pork belly place where staff grill the meat for you, with private rooms on several floors — good for team dinners. It's busy around 7 p.m., so book ahead.
20:45 Heart of Darkness Brewery Taproom — A taproom that takes group bookings (free-flow beer). Big tables make it a good second stop after a team dinner.

Matchandeul District 1 (Tôn Thất Tùng) to the Lý Tự Trọng taproom is about 10 minutes by Grab.
Matchandeul closes at 23:00, the taproom at midnight.
If you need to expense it, ask for a 'hóa đơn điện tử (VAT)' before paying and write down the company name, tax code (MST) and email.

Thảo Điền client or team dinner: quiet Vietnamese or Korean BBQ with private rooms → pub with a group room

18:30 Meat Plus & Cha Cha Cha Thảo Điền — A Korean BBQ place with over ten VIP rooms, so even big team dinners are fine. For foreign clients, book the quiet modern Vietnamese restaurant Madame Lam (until 22:00) instead.
21:00 The Orient Bar Saigon — A 2nd-floor group room for 15–50 people, with pool, darts and shuffleboard. Google Maps says 12:00–01:00, but listings conflict, so call ahead.

Meat Plus to The Orient Bar is 5–10 minutes by Grab.
If your guests like golf, K-GOLF TOWN (173B Võ Nguyên Giáp, VIP rooms, until midnight) is a good second stop. It's about 5 minutes from Meat Plus by Grab.
People who don't drink can join toasts with tea or juice.

Formal Vietnamese dinner in Phú Mỹ Hưng → taproom

18:00 Kim Quán — A formal Vietnamese restaurant with suited waitstaff. The 2nd floor is quieter for conversation. Closes at 21:00.
20:15 Pasteur Street Brewing (Phú Mỹ Hưng) — Wind down with a casual drink. If your guest loves football, The Tavern PMH works too.

For a lunch meeting, Migac Korean Restaurant (formerly Migac The Gukbap), where you can book a window room with its own restroom, is also good.
Phú Mỹ Hưng also has hostess restaurants and hostess karaoke. Even if a guest suggests going, propose a hotel bar or pub instead.

Business — hosting clients · team dinners — good to know

For a toast, shout 'Một, hai, ba, dô / vô!' (one, two, three, cheers!). 'Trăm phần trăm' means 'bottoms up'. There are many toasts, so pace yourself. If you don't drink, you can toast with tea or juice. (Kaiwa 2026)

The weeks around Tết (Lunar New Year) are the biggest gift-giving season, but appointments often get canceled then, so avoid important meetings. (Kaiwa · InCorp)
Expensing: before paying, say 'Cho tôi xuất hóa đơn điện tử (VAT)' and write down the company name, tax code (MST), address and email. The invoice must clearly say 'food and beverage service (dịch vụ ăn uống)'. For 5M VND or more in one payment (incl. VAT), you must pay by card or bank transfer, not cash, for the expense and VAT to be deductible. From July 1, 2026, e-invoices follow the new regulation (Nghị định 254/2026/NĐ-CP). For the second stop, go to a hotel bar or pub you picked in advance. Don't go to a 'karaoke, lounge or VIP room' suggested by street touts, taxi drivers or people you've just met. If you hear terms like 'karaoke ôm' or 'tay vịn', or are asked to 'choose' a hostess to sit with you, leave right away. You could get hit with an inflated bill or caught up in a police raid.

District 1 with parents: Vietnamese home cooking → walking street → riverside hotel bar

17:30 Bếp Mẹ Ỉn (Lê Thánh Tôn) — Vietnamese food in a clean dining room that first-time visitors love. Going early in the evening means fewer crowds.
19:00 Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street (Phố đi bộ Nguyễn Huệ) — Take a slow stroll along the flat street from City Hall to the river.
20:00 M Bar (Hotel Majestic Saigon) — Have a drink at a quiet hotel bar with river views. For non-drinkers, try a chocolate drink at Maison Marou (flagship).

The restaurant to Nguyễn Huệ is about a 10-minute walk, but on hot days call a Grab car (7-seater 'GrabCar 7').
On holiday evenings (Tết, April 30, Sept 2), Nguyễn Huệ gets extremely crowded. Watch your belongings.
If you have time during the day, try the water bus (from 15,000 VND one way) from the Bạch Đằng pier (Saigon Waterbus).

District 7 with parents: lakeside walk → roast duck → bingsu

17:00 Cầu Ánh Sao · Hồ Bán Nguyệt (Starlight Bridge · Crescent Lake) — Walk slowly across the bridge over the lake at sunset. The lights mostly come on after 17:00 on weekends.
18:00 Nhà Hàng Hoàng Tâm (Phú Mỹ Hưng) — Spacious, with Peking duck and Vietnamese dishes that are great for sharing as a group.
19:45 Seol Hwa Bingsu (Bingsu Sữa Bào Tuyết Hoa) — Finish with soft milk bingsu at a Korean-owned bingsu café.

Lake → restaurant → bingsu café are all within 5 minutes by Grab. If anyone has knee trouble, walk just part of the bridge and turn back.
If they'd like Korean food, Jingogae (Korean set meals, grilled fish; about 190k–220k VND per person, DeliveryK prices) is a good choice too.

Thủ Thiêm & Thảo Điền with parents: riverside park → mall restaurant → bakery

D2 · Budget Ngo Saigon prices not checked + 30k–60k VND per pastry (approx.; guide, Oct 2026). Switching to Quán Bụi Garden in Thảo Điền makes it about 80k–310k VND per person

17:00 Thủ Thiêm · Saigon River riverside park — Walk while looking at the District 1 skyline across the river. There are construction zones, so stick to the wide paths.
18:30 Ngo Saigon (Thiso Mall Sala) — A Vietnamese restaurant inside an air-conditioned mall, comfortable for parents. There's an Emart in the basement of the same mall.
20:00 Paris Baguette (Thiso Mall Sala) — Pick up bread for the next morning on the way home.

The riverside park to Thiso Mall Sala is about 5 minutes by Grab.
If you'd rather eat on the Thảo Điền side, Quán Bụi Garden (garden setting, 50k–250k VND per person) is a good pick.

☔ Rainy day — indoor-only routes

Crescent Mall movie → BBQ buffet → Korean sauna

17:30 Crescent Mall — Watch a movie at the mall's CGV or browse the shops. The mall is open 10:00–22:00.
19:30 King BBQ Buffet – Crescent Mall — A Korean all-you-can-eat BBQ and hotpot buffet on the 3rd floor of the same mall — dinner without going outside. Closes at 22:00.
21:15 Golden Lotus Healing Spa (Phú Mỹ Hưng) — A Korean-style jjimjilbang (sauna) and spa about 600m away on the same street, Tôn Dật Tiên. Sweat it out and relax. Open until midnight (24:00).

The mall to the sauna is a bit over 10 minutes on foot, but in heavy rain a Grab car takes just a few minutes. The mall parking entrance is on the 73 Hoàng Văn Thái side.
For something lighter than a BBQ buffet, there's Sushi Hokkaido Sachi (Crescent Mall) on the 1st floor (10:30–22:30) or Ngõ Sài Gòn (Crescent Mall) on the 3rd floor (assorted Vietnamese food) in the same mall.
The sauna closes at midnight, so get in before 21:30 to have time to relax.

Do it all inside Estella Place: bowling → BBQ → bakery

17:30 Timezone Estella Place — Bowling and arcade games at Timezone on the 4th floor. According to the official site, it's the Timezone in Ho Chi Minh City with bowling.
19:00 Meat & Meet Korean BBQ Container — Go down one floor for dinner at a container-themed Korean BBQ place on the 3rd floor. Closes at 22:00.
21:00 TOUS les JOURS (Estella Place) — Pick up bread for the next morning on the 1st floor on your way out. Closes at 22:00.

Start to finish in one building, so you never get rained on. The mall is open 09:30–22:00.
If you prefer dim sum to BBQ, go to Dim Tu Tac (Estella Place) on the 4th floor of the same mall (09:30–22:00).
The mall closes at 22:00, so book your Grab home at the main entrance around 21:30.

Vincom Thảo Điền: metro in → movie → dinner

17:30 Vincom Mega Mall Thảo Điền — Watch a movie at the mall's BHD Star cinema or check out the indoor ice rink. It connects directly to the footbridge of Metro Line 1's An Phú station.
19:30 Spicy Box — A Korean buffet on the 4th floor of the same mall — all the grilled meat and side dishes you want. Closes at 22:00.
21:15 An Phú Station (Ga An Phú) — Walk straight to the station via the footbridge and take the metro home. It runs until 22:00 on weekdays and 23:00 on weekends and public holidays.

Metro Line 1 runs until 22:00 on weekdays and 23:00 on weekends and public holidays (as announced Aug 2025; subject to change). Vincom Mega Mall Thảo Điền connects directly to the An Phú station footbridge, so you stay drier.

If you want to drink while watching sports or playing pool, go to The Tavern PMH (marked 'good solo' in the guide, has a pool table). It's about 2 km from the ramen shop, 5–10 minutes by Grab.
On days you'd rather unwind than drink, Golden Lotus Healing Spa (Phú Mỹ Hưng) (sauna, until 24:00) is easy to visit alone.

Reviews say Dram adds about 20% in tax and service on top of menu prices. Jazz nights (Tue, Thu) can be loud.
For a more casual drink, go to The Rabbit Hole Irish Sports Bar (marked good for solo, open until 2 a.m.). It's about 700m from the ramen shop.
Going home, call a Grab car from in front of the bar rather than walking through the alleys.
