What's the area like?

District 10 lies just west of Districts 1 and 3 — a busy, lively residential and commercial area. With many universities and large hospitals, it's full of students, office workers, patients and their families, and at night it's famous for its flower market and food alley.

New ward names: since 1 July 2025 districts (quận) no longer exist, and the 11 wards of former District 10 were merged into 3 phường.

Old names still work: people still often say Quận 10 (District 10), and the old names are understood everywhere.

Medical street: the Sư Vạn Hạnh–Thành Thái area has so many hospitals it's sometimes called the 'District 10 medical street'.

Local tips & warnings

Ba Tháng Hai (3/2) and Sư Vạn Hạnh are badly jammed at rush hour. On hospital days, set off early in the morning.
English is limited at public hospitals (115, Trưng Vương). Write down your symptoms in Vietnamese or have a translation app ready.
In crowded spots like the flower market and food alley, don't walk with your phone in your hand. Motorbike snatchers and pickpockets operate here.
Cách Mạng Tháng Tám (CMT8) has Metro Line 2 construction sections that narrow the lanes (opening expected around 2030).
At the electronics market (Nhật Tảo), show a photo of the exact model of the part you need and compare prices at several shops.
When giving an address, say both the old name 'Quận 10' and the new name 'phường Vườn Lài / Diên Hồng / Hòa Hưng' to be sure.

Places to visit

Việt Nam Quốc Tự (Vietnam National Pagoda)

Buddhist pagoda · phường Hòa Hưng

A large Mahayana Buddhist pagoda built in 1964. Its tower, about 63 m tall, is known as the tallest pagoda tower in Saigon. Hòa Bình Theater is next door.

Công viên Văn hóa Lê Thị Riêng (Lê Thị Riêng Park)

Park · phường Hòa Hưng

A park of about 9 ha with an artificial lake, tennis courts and a swimming pool, popular with locals exercising morning and evening.

Metro Line 2's Lê Thị Riêng Station is being built on the north side of the park (opening expected around 2030), so there are construction zones nearby.

Chợ hoa Hồ Thị Kỷ (Hồ Thị Kỷ Flower Market)

Wholesale flower market · phường Vườn Lài (former Ward 1)

A wholesale flower market running since 1987, with flowers from Đà Lạt and the Mekong Delta. Open almost around the clock.

Sources say wholesale trading is busiest from midnight to dawn. Very crowded just before Tết.

A mall with 1 basement and 7 floors above ground, with a Co.opXtra supermarket in the basement (07:30–22:00), CGV, bowling, a bookstore and a food court.

Mall hours 09:30–22:00 (per sources). Motorbike parking is about 5,000 VND.

Chợ ẩm thực Hồ Thị Kỷ (Hồ Thị Kỷ Food Alley)

Night market · Street food · phường Vườn Lài (next to the flower market)

A food alley with over 100 stalls selling Cambodian-style noodles (bún Campuchia), Cambodian-style chè, grilled skewers, beef hotpot and more. Roughly 7,000–70,000 VND a plate.

Roughly 15:00–23:00. It's packed from 19:00 to 22:00, so watch for pickpockets , and ask the parking fee up front.

Chợ Nhật Tảo (Nhật Tảo Electronics Market)

Electronics & parts market · Around Nhật Tảo and Tân Phước streets (former District 10/11 border)

A market of phone and computer parts, cables, chargers, second-hand appliances and repair shops — you can even find parts for discontinued devices.

The address differs between sources (District 10/District 11). Search ' Chợ Nhật Tảo ' on a map. Roughly 09:00–20:00; bargaining is expected.

A large public hospital known for emergency care and neurology. Outpatient clinics also run in other buildings, such as 88 Thành Thái.

Getting around

Ga Sài Gòn (Saigon Railway Station)

Train station (North–South line terminus) · phường Nhiêu Lộc (former District 3, right next to Hòa Hưng in District 10)

Saigon's main railway station, with trains to Hanoi, Nha Trang, Da Nang and more. Close to District 10.

Buses 07 and 149 pass by. Buy tickets at the station counter or online.
