What's the area like?

District 7 is known for Phú Mỹ Hưng, a planned new town south of the Saigon River. With wide roads, parks, malls and international schools, it's the area with the largest Korean community (about 11,000 Koreans in District 7, per a 2020 VnExpress article).

New ward names: since 1 July 2025 districts (quận) no longer exist, and the 10 wards of former District 7 were merged into 4 phường.
- phường Tân Mỹ — former Tân Phú ward + part of Phú Mỹ ward (Crescent Mall, FV Hospital, SECC side)
- phường Tân Hưng — former Tân Phong, Tân Quy, Tân Kiểng and Tân Hưng wards (Sky Garden Koreatown, SC VivoCity, Lotte Mart side)
- phường Phú Thuận — former Phú Thuận ward + part of Phú Mỹ ward
- phường Tân Thuận — former Bình Thuận, Tân Thuận Đông and Tân Thuận Tây wards (Tân Thuận Export Processing Zone side)
Old names still work: people still often say Quận 7 (District 7) or Phú Mỹ Hưng, and drivers all understand the old names.
Main streets: Nguyễn Văn Linh (main east–west road), Nguyễn Hữu Thọ (toward Districts 1 and 4), Huỳnh Tấn Phát, Tôn Dật Tiên (in front of Crescent Mall)
Koreatown: Korean restaurants and grocery stores cluster around Sky Garden on Bùi Bằng Đoàn, Phạm Văn Nghị and Đặng Đại Độ streets.

Local tips & warnings

District 7 is low-lying, so streets flood when high tides (triều cường) coincide with heavy rain. Huỳnh Tấn Phát floods especially often. In the rainy season (roughly May–Nov) a GrabCar is the safer option.
There's no metro, so getting around means Grab, taxis and buses. At rush hour the bridges to District 1 and Nguyễn Hữu Thọ get very congested, so leave extra time.
Show Grab drivers the building name + street name in Vietnamese (e.g. Sky Garden, đường Nguyễn Văn Linh).
When SECC hosts a big concert or expo, the area gets packed. Agree on a Grab pickup spot in advance.
The new addresses use 'phường Tân Mỹ / Tân Hưng / Phú Thuận / Tân Thuận'. Write the new name on paperwork, and add 'Quận 7' when saying it out loud to be sure.
Emergency numbers: ambulance 115 · police 113. International hospitals are expensive, so check in advance whether your travel or expat insurance covers them.

Places to visit

Cầu Ánh Sao · Hồ Bán Nguyệt (Starlight Bridge · Crescent Lake)

Park · Night-view spot · phường Tân Mỹ (next to Crescent Mall)

A pedestrian-only bridge over a crescent-shaped lake. After sunset it lights up in many colors, and lots of people come to stroll and jog.

The fountain reportedly runs Thursday–Sunday, and the lights mostly come on after 17:00 on weekends. Park at places with posted prices.

SECC — Trung tâm Hội chợ Triển lãm Sài Gòn (Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center)

Saigon's main exhibition center, with 4 indoor halls (about 40,000 m²). Besides trade fairs, it often hosts K-pop concerts.

On big event days Nguyễn Văn Linh gets heavily congested. Check event schedules with the organizers.

Phố Hàn Quốc — around Sky Garden (Phú Mỹ Hưng Koreatown)

Bùi Bằng Đoàn, Phạm Văn Nghị and Đặng Đại Độ streets reportedly have over 200 businesses catering to Koreans — Korean restaurants, cafés, Korean grocery stores, hair salons, clinics and more.

Shops change often. Search 'Sky Garden Phú Mỹ Hưng' on a map. A Sep 2026 travel article also described the area around the Sky Garden and Panorama apartments as Phú Mỹ Hưng's Korean food hub, with galbi, kimchi-jjigae and gukbap restaurants.

A large mall with about 200 stores, a supermarket, food court, CGV cinema and kids' playground, right on the crescent lake.

The car park entrance is on the 73 Hoàng Văn Thái side.

Lotte Mart Nam Sài Gòn (Lotte Mart District 7)

Hypermarket (Korean) · phường Tân Hưng

A Korean-owned hypermarket, so Korean foods and household goods are easy to find. The 'Yorihada Kitchen' counter inside the ground-floor fresh section sells gimbap, tteokbokki, bulgogi lunch boxes, dakgangjeong and more, which you can heat up and eat in the in-store dining area. Lotte Cinema is in the same building.

We couldn't confirm branch addresses for the small Korean grocery stores (K-Market, etc.) around Koreatown. Search 'siêu thị Hàn Quốc Phú Mỹ Hưng' on a map.
