What's the area like?

Tân Bình is home to Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport. Thanks to the airport there are lots of airlines, travel agencies, hotels and offices, and being close to District 1 and Phú Nhuận, many commuters live here.

New ward names: from 1 July 2025 districts (quận) were abolished, and the wards of old Tân Bình were merged into 6 phường.

Old names still work: in daily life people still say Tân Bình or 'old Ward X (phường 4 cũ)', and most Grab drivers know the old names.

Local tips & warnings

Always check your terminal before flying. As of Feb 2026, domestic flights: Vietjet = T1, Vietnam Airlines and all others = T3; all international flights use T2.
Around the airport, Trường Sơn · Cộng Hòa · Hoàng Văn Thụ jam badly at rush hour (roughly 07–09 and 16–19) and around holidays. Leave a good hour early for flights.
Don't follow people at the airport who walk up saying 'Taxi?' and grab your bags. Fake taxis have copied company logos and phone numbers. Use the Grab app or the official taxi queue.
If you take a taxi, check the meter (đồng hồ) is on when you set off, and say the amount of each note out loud as you hand it over.
Grab pickup spots can change. Follow the pickup point shown in the app, and message your driver your 'terminal number + pillar number'.
Emergency numbers: ambulance 115 · police 113. The nearest big hospitals are Thống Nhất Hospital (1 Lý Thường Kiệt) and Tâm Anh Hospital (2B Phổ Quang).

Hoàng Văn Thụ Park (Công viên Hoàng Văn Thụ)

Park · Walks · Tân Sơn Hòa (old Ward 2)

A big triangular park right in front of the airport with a lake in the middle, busy with evening joggers and walkers; free entry.

According to an Aug 2025 source, two park parking lots are temporarily closed, so people often park on the street. Reports also say part of the park will be used for an airport access road project (needs checking).

Giác Lâm Pagoda (Chùa Giác Lâm)

Pagoda · Historic site · Bảy Hiền

Built in 1744, one of the oldest pagodas in the city and a listed national historic and cultural site.

It's a pagoda, so avoid short clothing and keep quiet as you look around.

Southern Air Force Museum (Bảo tàng Không quân phía Nam)

A military museum near the airport where you can see real fighter jets and helicopters outdoors.

A source says entry is free, but opening hours aren't confirmed. It's a military site, so follow the photo rules (needs checking).

Phổ Quang Pagoda (Chùa Phổ Quang)

A modern pagoda on Huỳnh Lan Khanh Street with finely detailed carvings.

Even the same source gives the street number as both 21 and 64. Search the pagoda's name on the map.

Phạm Văn Hai Market (Chợ Phạm Văn Hai)

Traditional market · Evening food · Tân Sơn Hòa

A big neighborhood market selling everything from groceries to women's clothes, fabric and household goods. In the evening, fish-cake, mì Quảng and bún cá stalls set up out front.

Sources say the market runs roughly 06:00–18:00 and the food stalls around 18:00–23:00. Bargaining for clothes is standard.

Tân Bình Market (Chợ Tân Bình)

Wholesale market (clothes · fabric) · Tân Hòa (old Ward 8)

A wholesale market where over 80% of stalls sell clothes and fabric, with 9 entrances and more than 3,000 stalls.

Official hours are 07:00–17:30, though many stalls open earlier or close later (Aug 2025 source). The street number is 172 or 172-174M depending on the source.

A large national general hospital founded in 1975. Sources say outpatients run weekdays 07:00–11:30, 13:00–16:30, with only fee-paying service clinics on Saturday mornings.

The main phone number is from a 2024 source. You can also book through the Medpro app (1900 2115).

Getting around

Tân Sơn Nhất Airport T1 (Nhà ga T1)

As of Feb 2026, a domestic terminal used only by Vietjet . Vietjet moved its check-in counters to Zone A on 13 Jan 2026.

2026 reports say ACV is considering moving some Vietjet routes to T3. Always check your terminal in the app or email before leaving.

Tân Sơn Nhất Airport T3 (Nhà ga T3)

Domestic terminal (new) · Tân Sơn Nhất

A new domestic terminal opened in April 2025, used as of Feb 2026 by Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo, Vietravel, Pacific, VASCO and Sun PhuQuoc Airways.

Sources say it's separate from T1/T2, about 15–20 minutes by car. Catch GrabCar on the ground floor (tầng trệt) of the PNA parking building; drop-off is at the 3rd-floor departures level (Grab notice, Jun 2025).

A free shuttle loops T1, T2 and T3 from 06:00 to 02:00 the next day, every 10–15 minutes.

Pickup points: T1 pillars B17–B20, T2 pillars B12–B16, T3 ground floor pillars 17–20 (Feb 2026 source).

Bus 109 runs between Saigon Bus Station (Bến xe Sài Gòn, District 1) and T3 (from T3 05:30–22:40, 8,000–15,000 VND). For T1/T2, take Bus 152 (05:15–19:00).
